Serena Williams flips an embarrassing incident into a funny one

Serena Williams flips an embarrassing incident into a funny one

Serena Williams flips an embarrassing incident into a funny one.

23-time Grand Slam champion and younger of the Williams sisters, Serena, is a popular character both on and off the court.

She is presently promoting the forthcoming film, ‘King Richard’- that is based on the life of her father, Richard Williams.

Intriguingly, distinguished Hollywood star Will Smith is playing the role of Richard in the film.

The always fun-loving Serena Williams was recently involved in a funny situation.

She was preparing for a show and was almost ready for the shoot when suddenly something awkward happened to her. And this was how she expressed herself:

“Why do these things only happen to me”- Serena Williams

While getting all made up for the show, Serena unintentionally ripped her pants from the rear end.

She sat on the chair and the trousers were so tight that they were broke apart at the seams just before the show.

It was both an embarrassing and hilarious moment for the former World No.1 player and she exploded into laughter after the incident took place. And this is what she had to say:

“Why! Why! I promise you, these things only happen to me!” exclaimed Serena.

Even though her slacks got ripped, Serena didn’t halt the show but instead she took to social media to let her fans laugh along with her. And while doing so she taught her fans a useful life hack.

She revealed how the crisis could be resolved by easily wearing a jacket around one’s waist and then wearing the coat over it in order to conceal the torn section.

Later, she stressed that no matter what happens, the show must go on.

“The show must go on, no matter what, the show must go on,” said the 40-year-old.

We all know Serena is known for her positive attitude. In this instance she transformed a potentially humiliating incident into a funny one and in fact imparted a hack to her fans. Such is her genius!

Fans haven’t seen their favourite Serena Williams on the court for quite some time now. It seems that she won’t play any professional tennis for at least a couple of weeks and may only make a comeback at the Australian Open 2022.

The bigger question that is doing the round is that will she win her 24th Grand Slam title before hanging her tennis racquets for good?

Why is Novak Djokovic keeping his vaccination status a secret?

The Australian Open officials confirmed that a very modest proportion of players and officials would be given medical exemption to enter Melbourne Park unvaccinated, boosting hopes that Djokovic could compete in the opening major of the year without revealing his COVID-19 vaccination status.

World No.1 seed Novak Djokovic may well be given medical exemption to compete in the Australian Open, which is scheduled to start on January 17, even though tournament director Craig Tiley did not shed light on any development with regards to the Serbian’s participation.

Earlier, the Australian Open planners had said that no health exemptions would be granted to players unless there was a legitimate reason.

But a few days back, Tiley conceded that some people would be granted an exemption. “The good thing is that everyone [coming to Melbourne Park) is vaccinated,” said Tiley. “Everyone who is coming in is vaccinated and there will be a small percentage that will have a medical exemption.”

The funny fact about this entire debate on Novak Djokovic’s vaccination status is that no one really knows if he has been vaccinated or not. The Serb has decided to keep that part a big secret. There is a 50% chance that he has been vaccinated already. That being the case, then why is he keeping it a secret?

Tiley also said he was positive that Rafael Nadal will recover in time and will play in Melbourne despite testing positive for COVID-19.

Why are experts comparing the Medvedev Djokovic final with the Queen’s Gambit

Why are experts comparing the Medvedev Djokovic final with the Queen’s Gambit

Why are experts comparing the Medvedev Djokovic final with the Queen’s Gambit ?

Eyeballs will be stuck on Rod Laver Arena on Sunday when red-hot Daniil Medvedev will try to topple World No. 1 Novak Djokovic at the 2021 Australian Open men’s singles title.

Both players have had divergent runs to the final at Melbourne Park. Djokovic, an 8-time Australian Open champion, entered the contest as the man to defeat. But after appearing to damage an oblique muscle in the 3rd round against American Taylor Fritz, there were significant worries he would be able to remain on course towards a 18th major title.

Since then, Djokovic has relished easy wins over Milos Raonic, Alexander Zverev and Aslan Karatsev, and concerns about the enigmatic injury have diminished.

Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev has carried on his stunning hardcourt form, dictating the outcome in his favour against everyone who has come in his path. The Russian is riding a twenty-match winning stretch on the surface, with eleven of those wins coming against top-10 ranked players. Medvedev is seeking his maiden major title, and if he secures it this weekend in Melbourne, he will soar to the ranking of world No. 2.

What is it going to be the experience factor or the Queen’s Gambit?

Novak Djokovic has the advantage of his experience, but the young Russian does have a Slam final appearance on his résumé.

McEnroe: I like how Djokovic tried to flip it around and put the burden on Medvedev by saying [Medvedev is] the player to defeat. Medvedev might have only competed in one Slam final, but it was a terrific match and he demonstrated incredible determination, guts and stamina to take it to five sets. His strategies were also mostly spot on. If Medvedev fails to win this match, the the only logical explanation would be that Djokovic took the game away from him. I don’t think it will be because of the lack of major final experience or any sort of stage fright.

Cahill: Experience matters for a lot, and I believe Medvedev spoke especially well about it after his final against Rafael Nadal at the US Open two years back. It wasn’t that he played the inappropriate shots, it was just he felt he was short of the experience of being there in that moment. He was down two sets to love and then bounced back with 2 amazing sets in his favour, before Nadal lifted again and won. But now that he has experienced that situation before, he’ll be able to reflect on that and gather a bit more insight, and not be frightened by the finish line, if he gets that chance. That bit of his rich experience will help him. On the other hand, Novak has been there on so many occasions and for him, it’s second nature. For Medvedev, he will still have to push himself through that.

Some experts are comparing the 2021 Australian Open men’s final with the “Queens’ Gambit” where a young star takes out the best and the most experienced in the field. Novak Djokovic has the advantage of his experience, but the young Russian does seem to have the Queen’s Gambit factor playing out!

While Naomi bags the title Jennifer Brady wins hearts by a very inspiring post match speech.

Naomi Osaka is the unquestionable queen of women’s tennis and what the social media is making out her post match speech to be a troll on Brady is not in the right spirit.

The Japanese star was relentless as she won her 4th grand slam title by defeating Jennifer Brady 6-4 6-3 in the 2021 Australian Open final on Saturday night.

Osaka, who advanced to the final after easily brushing aside Serena Williams in the semis, was too stylish and calm for Brady, who tasted defeat in the first grand slam final of her career.

The American has relished a swift rise in the past 12 months, making the US Open semi-finals last year and the final at Melbourne Park, but she’ll have to wait a bit longer for another opportunity at lifting some silverware at one of tennis’ four most prominent tournaments.

While Naomi took away the cup Brady won the hearts of the fans. She paid tribute to an “inspirational” Osaka in the post-match speech. Jennifer Brady was extremely gracious in her speech, she thanked everyone who had to be and she congratulated all those involved. She was all praise for Naomi.

Naomi on the other hand also heaped praise on her opponent — but started off by savagely trolling her rival.

Maybe she didn’t hear what Brady said, or maybe it was deliberate. Either way, it was not overlooked by the internet.

Serena Williams calls it a big error day before she breaks down during post match presser.

In a semi final where 2 of the greatest names in women’s tennis clashed there obviously had to emerge a single winner.

And today was Naomi Osaka’s day as she outclassed Serena Williams in straight sets and confirmed her berth in the finals alongside Jennifer Brady.

Naomi Osaka has said it before that she totally idolizes Serena and she did give her a respectful bow after the match.

Likewise Serena ahs also said it before that she adores Naomi. Some observers believe that Serena sees her younger self in her.

In the post match presser Serena acknowledges that today was not her day and that it was filled with unforced errors. She went on to say that even the errors were so simple ones that she decided to call it a “big error day” for her.

Watch the presser till the end when she actually breaks down and leaves the podium.

Serena’s fans are heart broken as for now, and will eagerly await her next grand slam appearance. Hopefully Serena will get to level Margaret Court’s record then.

Why does Serena consider Naomi an ‘Incredible Opponent’

Why does Serena consider Naomi an ‘Incredible Opponent

Why does Serena consider Naomi an ‘Incredible Opponent ?

While Noami Osaka grew up idolizing Serena Williams, the latter is all praise for the former.

“I believe like she does everything well,” the twenty three-time Grand Slam singles title champion was all praise when she spoke about Naomi Osaka.

Serena Williams complimented Naomi Osaka as an “incredible opponent” in a press conference on Tuesday as the two tennis megastars prepare to lock horns in the semifinals of the 2021 Australian Open on Thursday.

After beating Romania’s Halep in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Williams responded to questions about what her thoughts were about the impending semi-final match against Japan’s Osaka during a post-match interview.

“I feel good, I feel like
I’m here, I’m happy to be here, and I gotta keep going, that’s obviously the goal,” Williams said. “Obviously, I have an incredible opponent to play, so it’ll be nice to hopefully keep raising the level of my game – I’m going to have to.”

At another point in the news conference, Serena Williams commented that Osaka is a “very strong player.”

She acknowledged that Naomi has a good serve, has a great return, strong on both sides.

Williams and Osaka had a memorable encounter at the 2018 U.S. Open, when umpire Carlos Ramos polemically delivered Williams three code violations. Naomi Osaka defeated Serena Williams in that match, achieving her first Grand Slam title.

Furor surrounding the legendary match dwarfed Osaka’s win at the time, and the event fueled a wave of discriminatory and sexist assaults against Serena.

Williams tackled the scandalous match in a 2019 essay for Harper’s Bazaar, sharing a note she sent to Naomi that read, in part:

“I had no idea the media would pit us against each other. I would love the chance to live that moment over again. I am, was, and will always be happy for you and supportive of you. I would never, ever want the light to shine away from another female, specifically another black female athlete.”

Twenty three year old Osaka, who grew up adoring the thirty nine year old Serena, noted during a post-match interview this week that she always “watches Serena’s matches.”

Williams is pursuing her twenty fourth Grand Slam singles title, which would bring her level with Margaret Court’s record, including the thirteen Court won before the Open era.

Two larger than life and totally in form tennis stars have set the stage for a blockbuster semi final at the 2021 Australian Open.

Ash Barty probably the most modest player on the planet

Ash Barty probably the most modest player on the planet

Ash Barty probably the most modest player on the planet!

Ash Barty plays a team game in singular pursuit of home glory.
The world No 1 has never worked unaided and, as she parades on the way to the 2021 Australian Open final, continues to prosper with her support crew.

It is common to hear Ash Barty speak in first-person pronouns, and she does so in plurals. “We” while she is implying that it not only about her and that her crew is very much part of the journey.

Normally tennis is looked at as an individual sport. Barty’s is the sole name atop the WTA rankings. But this Australian has never functioned alone. The “we” implies her team. “They” points to her “family”, some in blood, others in every way but.

Barty’s crew is a power packed with coach Craig Tyzzer, mentor Ben Crowe, golfer boyfriend Gary Kissick, and a “certain Englishman” among the minor congregation in her box. She explains this “red cherry face” is her latest strength and shape up coach, Mark Taylor.

Barty’s game is hers, but it is also one built on resourcefulness garnered from elite sporting relationships with surfer Stephanie Gilmour and Richmond Tigers captain Trent Cotchin, among others.

It is such resourcefulness that helped her to easily overcome the fourth-round challenger Shelby Rogers, in a 6-3, 6-4 result that sets up her entry into the last eight with a quarter final clash Karolina Muchova, the Czech who played her magic on Elise Mertens.

Monday night was predictable in all ways but one – as roars from the “crowd” were heard only from the TV screen, Barty and Rogers heard nothing as they played to an empty stadium.

A crowd filled with fans can impact a player’s game in significant ways, lift a qualifier to excellence or sink the best competitor on the planet. Barty, on the other hand, could play on the moon in indistinguishable fashion. Any drop in form or mid-match inconsistency is usually only down to core forces or injury.

Indeed, the only thing she bears similarity with Nick Kyrgios is that the pair feature in a ubiquitous Uber Eats advertisement (alongside Sacha Baron Cohen). Her face shows no signs of Kyrgios’s bling and bluster, instead she is the personification of modesty. She is not one of these celebs who thrive on the word of the paparazzi instead she had recently stated that “that external recognition” is not her thing.

Calm consistency is the way she operates, and Barty does not so much play as conduct surgery. Barty is characterized by her subtle game style as she silently goes about her job of winning without any fanfare or roar.

Watch Serena Williams’ Tribute to Venus and her thoughts on Valentine’s Day

Serena Williams got a Valentine’s Day triumph to keep her strongly in contention for an 8th Australian Open title, brushing aside a strong challenge from world No.7 Aryna Sabalenka to advance to the quarter-finals with a 6-4 2-6 6-4 win.

After breaking in the tenth game of the 1st set to clinch it, the 23-time Grand Slam champion had to rise to the level of her much younger opponent in the decider after the impetus shifted decisively onto the Belarusian’s side of the net.

In an age-daring match, she managed to do just that, stunning commentators with her skill to blunt the power of Sabalenka before seizing the initiative at crucial moments.

Williams broke early in the 3rd set and got out to a 4-1 lead before an engrossing match was given another surprise, with Sabalenka battling back to draw level at 4-4.

However, just when it seemed like Serena Williams might be headed for the exit door, she shifted gears again to hold serve for 5-4 before an impeccable return game finally cracked the rising Belarusian star.

After the match Williams used her on-court talk with Jelena Dokic to give a reminder of her strong self-belief, disclosing she had been confident throughout the swinging three-setter that the match was hers for the taking.

She then swerved to her player’s box in the stands to pay praise her 40-year-old sister Venus, who bowed out in the 2nd round in a one-sided match against Italy’s Sara Errani, doing so bravely after brutally twisting her ankle in the 1st set.

Serena Williams said her illustrious career had been made significantly easier by her ever-present sister who has been a continuous support since they arrived on the professional tour together more than 20 years ago.

Williams was then put in the corner by Dokic, who questioned if her 4th round win had been her only present on Valentine’s Day, as the television camera rolled to her husband Alexis Ohanian in the stands.

“You certainly put him in an uncomfortable position,” Serena said, confirming that he hadn’t given her a present.

Then she went on to clarify that she doesn’t actually celebrate Valentine’s Day or other holidays.

Sydney woman clarifies why she showed middle finger to Rafael Nadal

Sydney woman clarifies why she showed middle finger to Rafael Nadal

‘Bored’ tennis fan from Sydney finally clarifies why she acted in the way she did but no apology has been forthcoming.

There was pandemonium at the Rod Laver Arena on Thursday while Rafael Nadal was competing against American Michael Mmoh when a fan interrupted Nadal’s serve and presented him a middle finger.

The woman, who was subsequently evicted from the Rod Laver Arena on Thursday for showing the middle finger to Rafael Nadal while he was mid-way in a game against American Michael Mmoh at the 2021 Australian Open, has explained why she shouted out at the twenty-time Grand Slam champion.

Talking to an Australian broadcasting station, the woman said that she was downing some “bubbly” before her outburst. She also added that she found Rafael Nadal “extremely” uninteresting to watch.

The woman, who hails from Sydney is a huge Elina Svitolina fan and she said she “stuck around” at Rod Laver Arena after watching Elina Svitolina and Coco Gauff, when questioned why she was viewing Nadal’s match if she didn’t like him.

“It’s probably not a good look for me,” she confessed. She also said that her daughter “wasn’t too pleased” with what she’d done.

The unpleasant incident took place when Rafael Nadal was 5-4 up in the second set and he was preparing to serve for the match when the lady started making noise, which hindered Nadal’s serve.
Another explanation provided was that she was probably irritated with Nadal’s OCD behaviour before he serves.

All said and done and whether she was just bored or irritated the way she behaved has absolutely no logical reasoning. And if she considers herself a respectable Australian tennis fan then the least she could have done is to tender some form of (verbal) apology or regret. We haven’t seen or read any such admission of guilt anywhere in the media.
