Andy Murray Pissed off at Tsitsipas’ Unfair Gamesmanship

Andy Murray Pissed off at Tsitsipas’ Unfair Gamesmanship

Andy Murray Pissed off at Tsitsipas’ Unfair Gamesmanship

The Briton protested about what he thought was unfair gamesmanship by the French Open runner-up and proclaimed: I lost respect for him

Andy Murray is aware that Greek top seed has a growing repute for pushing the limits when it comes to taking breaks during a match.

Murray figures there was ample for him to contend with in Monday’s high heat and humidity: He’s 34. He’s got a synthetic hip. He’s ranked 112th after a string of fitness issues.

At one stage, he fell to the ground, losing his balance in sweat-soaked shoes and leaving specks on the blue court from his damp clothing.

So as the match stretched to almost 5 hours, Murray was not at all happy that Tsitsipas took a medical break after the 3rd set and made a prolonged visit to the locker room after the fourth. Following an engaging, back-and-forth 2-6, 7-6 (7), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 loss to Tsitsipas, Murray grumbled about what he thought off as unfair gamesmanship by the Greek and literally state that “I lost respect for him”.

Told of Murray’s anger, the just-turned-23 Tsitsipas said, “If there’s something that he has to tell me, we should speak, the two of us, to kind of understand what went wrong. I don’t think I broke any rules.”

With departures for Murray and 2014 winner Marin Cilic, who halted the match abruptly because of an injury in the 5th set against Philipp Kohlschreiber, the only man left in the draw after Day One with even one Grand Slam title is No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic will debut Tuesday night as he tries to break a tie for the men’s mark of 20 majors with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer and become the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to complete a calendar-year Grand Slam.

Maria Sharapova is not only a tennis legend, in fact she has several avatars in the realm of fitness.
Her passion for boxing has increasingly become evident based on her workout videos being posted on social media.
The 34-year-old, who retired over a year back from pro tennis, took up boxing training while she was served a doping ban (from tennis) which began in 2016.

She has been posting a series of pad work clips to reveal her progression.

Sharapova captioned her latest post in this series: “Every day counts ?Strong body, strong mind.”

When Sharapova finally returned to tennis in 2017, following a 15 month interruption due to the ban, she disclosed that boxing helped keep her busy.

Maria Sharapova from Chernobyl to Trophies and Fashion Magazines

Maria Sharapova from Chernobyl to Trophies and Fashion Magazines

Maria Sharapova from Chernobyl to Trophies and Fashion Magazines : Maria Sharapova turned pro in 2001 and by 2006, she was one of the greatest tennis stars in the world.

It was during that time, the start of Maria Sharapova’s golden period, 16 years back that she was in the limelight and she was also featured in the Sports Illustrated. That 2006 issue became one of the iconic Swimsuit issues and is remembered by all her fans till date.

https://youtu.be/tmncWh6W2bM

Over the years, several prominent players have posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

In 2021, tennis star Naomi Osaka was showcased on one of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit covers. Osaka was the first Haitian and Japanese woman to appear on the cover of the iconic publication.

Sharapova is clearly one of the favourite athletes to be featured in the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

But very few of her fans may know that before she was holding trophies and featuring in fashion magazines, Maria Sharapova lived in post-Chernobyl Belarus.

Maria was born in Serbia, on April 26, 1987, almost exactly a year after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster which forever changed the landscape of Eastern Europe. Soon after Sharapova was born her family moved the town of Gomel, Belarus until fallout from Chernobyl affected the town forcing them to shift to Sochi.

It was in Sochi that Maria’s father became friends with the father of Yevgeny Kaflnikov, the 1st Russian tennis player to be named number one in the world.

This friendship with the Kaflnikov family is where Maria’s tennis story started. She received her first racket from Yevegeny’s father in 1991 and she instantaneously showed that she may have a future with the sport.

In 1994, incapable of speaking even a word of English and with very little money, the Sharapova’s moved to the United States without Maria’s mother who was delayed for 2 years due to Visa issues. Maria’s father, Yuri Sharapova, worked various low paying blue collar jobs to pay for her lessons until she was old enough to be admitted to the Bollettieri’s institute.

In 1995, the then nine year old Maria got a fantastic break when IMG signed her to a deal that would underwrite all the costs for tuition at the Bollettieri academy.

Sharapova’s talent and extremely good looks placed her among the world’s most famous and profitable athletes right after her win at Wimbledon.

She has featured in renowned magazines like Sports Illustrated, People, and Maxim almost right away after her first major title.

She also has mega endorsement deals from Gatorade, Tropicana, Canon and Nike.

Presently Maria Sharapova has retired from pro tennis and has taken on a new entrepreneurial career.

Robert De Niro Snubs Roger Federer

Robert De Niro Snubs Roger Federer

Robert De Niro Snubs Roger Federer : Robert De Niro rubbishes a proposal from Roger Federer to be a part of a Switzerland Tourism spotlight.

The Oscar-winning American actor justifies his refusal by stating that “Switzerland is just too perfect. ”

Watch how Federer gets snubbed by De Niro:

Switzerland remains one of the planet’s most cherished tourist destinations. But, Robert De Niro looks at it differently and you cannot imagine how diverse a thought process a film maker/actor could have.

The Oscar-winning American acting icon snubbed Federer by outright refusing to be a part of the tourism spot for Switzerland because “there’s no drama, absolutely no drama at all.”

De Niro conveyed this to Roger Federer, tennis superstar and the latest Switzerland Tourism (ST) ambassador, over a video call. In the video call, it can be seen that Federer is trying his best verbal pitch to depict the glory of Switzerland to De Niro; an effort to make him says yes, but he doesn’t budge.

“Switzerland is just too flawless”, remarks a disturbed De Niro and sums up why you should visit the Alpine nation.

Roger Federer joins hands with Switzerland Tourism as its brand ambassador.

Earlier this year, Federer became Switzerland Tourism’s official ambassador. “I have always felt, every time I step on the court, I am representing my country Switzerland. Each Time it says my name, there is a Swiss flag next to it. I have been very gratified to do that for the first twenty two years I have been on tour, and it will always be like that. To join forces with Switzerland Tourism now is a rational and compelling step for me.”

A special reference goes to another Oscar-winning American actor when De Niro tells Federer, “Maybe call Hanks.” De Niro was obviously implying Tom Hanks, who is deemed as one of the nicest people in the acting business.

It is over a year since the formal retirement of the erstwhile Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova.

The gorgeous Siberian athlete can surely be remembered as one of the greatest tennis players ever, she is one of the few to have won the Career Grand Slam and many other accolades in her career.

2020 was not only the year of her retirement, it was also the year when she announced her official engagement with a well-known British entrepreneur and businessman, Alexander Glikes.

Towards the latter part of pro tennis career, Sharapova started focussing on her business, Sugarpova, a company specializing in a variety of confectionery.

Apart from this her social media activity and popularity has erupted in recent days.

She was always a popular figure on social media but the interest in her activities has seen a dramatic upswing ever since she retired.

Some time back Sharapova had posted a video on social media where she (probably promoting a fitness product) demonstrates how she trains and keeps fit working out at home.

https://youtu.be/LFN7DwqS8Ng

She has shared numerous workout inspiration videos over social media, and her recent video is perhaps the most intense yet.

The world 9th seed is currently visiting IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla, and utilizing their world-class training facilities. In an Instagram short video posted recently, she enters the gym with a phrase that says she’s ready to work—and work she does:

The swift-paced video takes fans through a typical exercise session for the 2-time Grand Slam champion.
Muguruza covers modules targeting almost all the major muscle groups, performing them with the skill one only gets from being a top athlete.

The session is highlighted by fast-feet drills, medicine ball slams, single arm rows and some that will no doubt boost her agility on court.

Muguruza ends the training routine with a short rest, followed by an ice bath.

It’s enough to motivate anyone into getting active and moving into the gym with rejuvenated gusto.

Garbine Muguruza is coming off her 2nd Olympic run, where she made it to the quarterfinals in singles.

She went down to Elena Rybakina in straight sets, but has clearly wasted no time bouncing back to work.

Serena overcomes Sharapova to claim the 2012 Olympic gold medal in style

Serena overcomes Sharapova to claim the 2012 Olympic gold medal in style – Flashback

Serena overcomes Sharapova to claim the 2012 Olympic gold medal in style : In 2012 Serena became the first tennis player in the game’s history with all four Majors & the Olympic gold in both singles & doubles!

Over 3 decades back Steffi Graf captured all 4 Major titles & the singles gold medal at the 1988 Olympics for the so-called Golden Slam. The only player who had the prospect of chasing those five titles after Steffi Graf was Serena Williams, completing a career Grand Slam already in 2003 when she won the Australian Open title, with enough time for adding the Olympic gold medal to her collection.

Steffi Graf 1988 Olympics
Steffi Graf 1988 Olympics

Nonetheless, it seemed to be moving away from her for years, missing the events in 2000 & 2004 & losing in the last 16 to the final champion Elena Dementieva at Beijing in 2008. Still, Serena tasted the Olympic triumphs in the doubles after winning the gold medal with her older sister Venus in 2000 & 2008.

Then when she was 30, Serena had a perfect opportunity to finally take the Olympic singles gold in London 2012. The American returned to Wimbledon a few weeks after winning the fifth singles title at the All England Club & delivered amazing tennis in all six meetings.

Thus, she became the first tennis player in the game’s history with all four Majors & the Olympic gold in both singles & doubles! Serena had to defeat five top-20 opponents en route to a momentous achievement, which was hardly an hurdle for her after dropping 17 games in 12 sets (never more than 3 in a single set) to earn the title. Clearly that year was Serena’s golden year!

Serena Williams 2012 Golden Slam

On August 4, Serena Williams ousted the former grand slam champion Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 in a rapid 62 minutes, notching her 6th win over the Russian in 8 matches to welcome the Olympic glory. This was the picture-perfect revenge for that 2004 Wimbledon final loss when Sharapova was blazing all guns at the tender age of 17. However 8 years down the line Sharapova’s games was nowhere near that level & never stood a chance against the mighty opponent.

Serena had twenty four winners & just 7 unforced errors in what has been one of the best matches she ever played, dictating both serve & return to leave Maria miles behind.
