Nadal Shatters Top 10 Ranking Consistency World Record

Just a few weeks ahead of the Australian Open 2021, Rafael Nadal has quietly shattered yet another world record that may never even come close to being touched by any of his peers. One of the most consistent players on the circuit, Rafa has dodged injuries and really tough competition to achieve yet another milestone in his tennis career – 800 consecutive weeks (5600 days) within the ATP’s Top 10 rankings. While he may be trailing behind Novak Djokovic in terms of Masters 1000 wins, Rafa has levelled Roger Federer’s – once seemingly impossible – record of twenty Grand Slams & unlike Federer, seems to be en-route to win a few more.

The Rafael Nadal Outfit For Australian Open 2021 Unveiled

With the ATP rankings update on Monday, 18 January, Spanish tennis icon Rafael Nadal completed a staggering 800 consecutive weeks (15.3years) ranked within the Top 10 ATP players. If the figure does not shake you up at once, 800 weeks amounts to roughly 15.3 years – almost 50% of Rafa’s entire life. An additionally in context, this means that since Rafa made his professional ATP debut all the way back in 2001, he has only spent first 4 years not being a top 10 player. Rafa barged into the Top 10 on April 25, 2005, shortly after he won his first title at the French Open and the rest is history.

Djokovic Dominates Aussie Open & Nadal Rules at Roland Garros | Can 2021 Change This?

One of the greatest contributors to Rafa’s longevity at the top rankings of tennis has been his total domination on Clay. Boasting an insane thirteen titles at the Roland Garros, Rafa has earned at least 2k points from the Slam every year, helping him stay afloat even as he went down in non grand slams like the Masters 1000. While he may not have won as many of the non clay court Slams, it has been rare to see Rafa non reaching the quarterfinals/semis even in those – another indicator of his consistency over all surfaces and time.

On his way to 800 consecutive weeks, Nadal surpassed Jimmy Connors’ record of 789 in November last year. He also crossed arch rival Roger Federer, who finished 734 consecutive weeks in 2016 after an unfortunate knee injury pushed him down to No. 17. Novak Djokovic on the other hand, ended a 10 year-long run from 2007-17 after suffering an elbow injury that pushed him down to a low of No. 22 in 2018. The next milestone Rafa could be looking at is the overall weeks in the Top 10 – a category topped by Federer at 931 weeks and Jimmy Connors, whose 816 weeks Nadal can easily cross in 16 weeks!

Roger Federer’s Return Scheduled in March at Doha

Tournament director of Rotterdam and former Wimbledon champion Krajicek is confident that Federer will comeback to professional tennis in March at the tournament that takes place in Doha.

Roger Federer To Skip 2021 Australian Open | Knee Surgery & Fitness Concerns

Krajicek had hoped his Rotterdam tournament would be the one that welcomed Roger Federer back to competitive tennis after over a year out with a knee injury, but he now seems to think he has missed out as Doha in March looks like a greater possibility.

“I think I know he will play in Doha (March 8), the week after Rotterdam,” Krajicek said of Federer. “But if he’s fit and ready to play, we’ll hear from him,” said Richard Krajicek.

Krajicek had earlier seemed confident of Federer agreeing to play Rotterdam, and cited his special connection with the event after becoming the oldest ever world number one there in 2018.

“Roger Federer knows that he is well received in Rotterdam,” Kraijcek said earlier this month. “With the Big Three, you hope that the manager will contact you to tell you that they want to play here, but I can drop an email just in case. “I cannot consider Federer’s appearance a guarantee. I am aware that it may be too early for Federer to make a commitment just yet.”

Tennis Apparel Collection BY NikeCourt – Launching Australian Open Spring 2021

Unlike in previous years when majority of the designers and brands would reveal thier designs in December, this year we’re plunging into the 2021 season without much talk about fresh tennis styles. Good news is coming from Nike who have launched thier Australian Open Spring 2021 apparel collection under NikeCourt.

Colors black, white and purple define the color theme in the collection. The abstract print looks like the natural grains on marble, but Nike insists that it draws on the organic beauty of the Melbourne landscape, highlighting elements of marine life and coral reefs.

The Nike Spring Victory Print Tank has a cutout on the back and uses the Dri-Fit technology to keep players comfortable and dry.

The Nike Spring Victory Print Skirt is tailored with a side slit that provides a wider range of motion while players run and skid.

Besides an all-over print look, the collection boasts a many options for mixing and matching: you can go for a half-print look or a solid-colored outfit.

The Nike Spring Victory Sleeveless Polo can be worn in combo with the Nike Spring Victory Straight Skirt for a traditional but crisp look. There is also the Flouncy Skirt in matching colors.

The Nike Spring Advantage Short is the highlight in this collection as it complements all the printed tanks.

Is Rafael Nadal Planning to Abandon His Signature Sleeveless Style Again

Is Rafael Nadal Planning to Abandon His Signature Sleeveless Style Again?

Is Rafael Nadal Planning to Abandon His Signature Sleeveless Style Again?

Rafael Nadal abandoned his autograph sleeveless look in 2009, going on to put on a more traditional on-court apparel for the next decade.

But he reverted to the singlet at the 2018 Australian Open, and has persisted with it ever since; the Spaniard has worn sleeveless shirts in each of his last three Australian Opens.

During his on-court talk with McEnroe at the 2018 Australian Open, Rafa explained why he is back to wear sleeveless shirts. “I have small issues when I’m playing in very hot conditions when I hit my forehand, so I like to play without the sleeves. It makes me feel younger again”, said Nadal.

Nadal sported the widely imitated grey singlet at the Australian Open two years ago, where he lost in the quarterfinals to Marin Cilic of Croatia.

Rafa had a better run the year after that, reaching the final of the 2019 Australian Open when he was seen wearing an orange sleeveless top.

Nadal wore a sleeveless shirt at the 2020 Australian Open as well, taking to the court in a bright pink singlet.

But for the 2021 Australian Open he seems poised to go back to more conventional attire, which may not be to the liking of some of his fans.

The Rafael Nadal Outfit For Australian Open 2021 Unveiled

When he first appeared onto the professional tennis scene, Nadal was as well known for his chiselled arms as he was for his forehand.

In 2009, the same year as his last Australian Open win, Nadal made a fashion choice with Nike, ditching his characteristic singlets in favour of a more mature, Federer-esque look.

Over the years Rafael Nadal as a brand has also been famous for caps with the bull horns.

Fashion translates to big money for tennis brands, and high profile players such as Federer, Nadal and Murray play pivotal roles in the industry, and the resulting dollars their sponsors stand to make in retail sales.

Creating a signature style is the key for players and their own brands.

Fans clamour to grab their favourite players’ look and emulate their signature styles & brands.

Nike is the leading brand in tennis and has been a long time beneficiary of Nadal’s mass fan following, forking out double digit millions of Dollars to sponsor him year after year.

Andy Murray Upbeat About The 2021 Australian Open Despite Testing Positive

Andy Murray Upbeat About The 2021 Australian Open Despite Testing Positive

Andy Murray Upbeat About The 2021 Australian Open Despite Testing Positive

Britain’s former world no. 1 Andy Murray’s participation at the Australian Open maybe in doubt after he tested positive for Covid-19.

The 33-year-old Scot was scheduled to fly out to Australia on a chartered flight over the next 3 days.

Instead he locked in quarantine and isolating at London home.

Murray, is in good health and he remains upbeat in the hope that he will be allowed to travel safely at a later date and compete as planned.

The 5-time Australian Open runner-up withdrew from last week’s ATP event in Delray Beach, wanting to “reduce the risks” of catching a transatlantic flight to Miami.

The 2021 Australian Open will commence on 8 February at Melbourne Park, 3 weeks later than usual, because of the global pandemic.

Players must test negative prior to boarding any one of the assigned chartered flights. The 2021 Australian Open tournament organisers have arranged these chartered flights which are at 25% capacity – to Australia.

Once they reach Melbourne, they have to pass a series of Covid tests during a fourteen-day quarantine before the Grand Slam.

Murray’s 2021 appearance at Melbourne Park will come 2 years after he played there in what he feared (at that time) would be his last match as a professional. However, a lot has changed for Murray since then which included surgery and physiotherapy and he has bounced back.

Currently Murray is ranked at 122nd in the world. Since this ranking is below the threshold to gain direct entry into the tournament the three-time Grand Slam champion has been given a wildcard.
