Eugenie Bouchard recovering well post shoulder surgery

Eugenie Bouchard seemed all set to have a great season in 2021 after she reached the final in Guadalajara in March. Sadly, the Canadian player had to take a few steps back due to a shoulder injury. Genie opted to go through with a surgery and start a long recovery that will bring her back to the professional tour, optimistically around early 2022.

During a recent Q&A session, Genie confessed that she was terrified before the surgical procedure since that would have been the first time she would go under.

“Full Anaesthesia. I was so scared beforehand cuz I’ve never been under. But the whole thing went flawlessly. However, when I came to after the surgery I kinda freaked out and was super emotional lol,” said Genie Bouchard.

Bouchard also revealed that her mother got a video of her post surgery emotional reaction and that she is going to post one day.

Rafael Nadal is the Star of The Spanish Team at Davis Cup

Rafael Nadal is the Star of The Spanish Team at Davis Cup

Rafa is undoubtedly the “best player in Davis Cup history”: Sergi Bruguera. Rafael Nadal is the Star of The Spanish Team at Davis Cup.

During a recent press meeting, Spain’s Davis Cup skipper Sergi Bruguera expressed his opinion that Rafael Nadal is the “best performer, in Davis Cup history”.

Nadal is not present in the Spanish side due to a foot injury, which is what Bruguera reckons could be the “big difference” in the 2021 edition of the tournament.

Fans overjoyed by Rafael Nadal’s comeback news

Rafael Nadal has been a part of 5 Davis Cup-prize winning teams. Spain secured the Davis Cup title in 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2019. The icing on the cake is Nadal himself as he boasts of an impressive 29-1 win-loss record at the event, including an active winning stretch of 29 matches.

Spain is effectively the defending champion, given that the competition did not take place in 2020 due to the pandemic.

When asked if the pandemic has eroded some lustre from the Spanish side, the two-time Roland Garros champion indicated that Rafael Nadal’s absence means that the Spanish team will have a definitive void may not even be considered as the favourite without him in their ranks.

Despite Rafa’s absence, Spain still have Pablo Carreno Busta, old campaigner Feliciano Lopez, and emerging star Carlos Alcaraz in their ranks. As such, Bruguera considers his team is still “very tough”.

Spain has been drawn at the Davis Cup 2021 in the same group as the Russian Tennis Federation and Ecuador. And devoid of Rafael Nadal in their ranks, defeating their fellow Europeans could be a Herculean task for the Spaniards given that the Russian side features 4 top-level players — Andrey Rublev, Daniil Medvedev, Aslan Karatsev, and Karen Khachanov.

Daniil Medvedev confesses Djokovic more difficult to play than Nadal

Rafael Nadal is still recuperating from his foot injury, even though he has returned to training in recent weeks.

Nadal recently announced that he plans to make a return at this year’s Mubadala World Tennis Championships, which is scheduled to take place from 16–18 December.

Can Nadal's decision speed up Djokovic's inoculation plans

Can Nadal’s decision speed up Djokovic’s inoculation plans

Can Nadal’s decision speed up Djokovic’s inoculation plans : NOVAK DJOKOVIC could make a crucial decision in the coming weeks. With a well-known anti-vaccine stance, if the Australian Open , a tournament in which he is the top winner with nine crowns, requires that all players be inoculated, then the Serb will have to determine whether or not he decides to protect himself against the covid.

In the last hours, in addition, there was other news that could push him to accelerate that decision: Rafael Nadal announced that he will return to the courts , after his foot injury, at the Abu Dhabi exhibition, in mid-December, to aim for sold out at the Australian Open in January 2022.

In Melbourne, in effect, the tiebreaker in the Grand Slams record shared by Nadal, Roger Federer and Djokovic himself – all three have 20 major titles – will be put into play . That’s why Australian legendary Todd Woodbridge, winner of 16 Grand Slams in doubles and Wimbledon semifinalist in singles, argued that Rafa’s return could push Djokovic to get vaccinated.

“Nadal’s decision poses a challenge for Djokovic: If Rafa wins, will he take 21st and take the lead? Will Djokovic allow it? I believe that it will not be like that and that, for that reason, at some point they will have to make a decision ” , he explained.

And he hesitated: “Djokovic’s position casts doubt on what he will do but it is nothing more than putting pressure on himself. We will have to see what he decides to do about it. “

Novak Djokovic admits that Pete Sampras is his role model

Novak Djokovic admits that Pete Sampras is his role model : Novak Djokovic was proud after he secured first place in the world rankings at the end of a tennis year on Saturday for the seventh time in his career. In doing so, he improved pete Sampras’ record.

“I’m proud and very happy,” said Djokovic after the scoop, which he won by winning in the semi-finals of the Masters tournament in Paris against the Pole Hubert Hurkacz (3-6, 6-0 and 7-6 (5)). “It’s always my big goal to be in first place at the end of the season.”

“It’s crazy to do it for the seventh time and catch up with my childhood hero and role model Sampras. I am incredibly grateful and blessed to be in this position. And what a way to achieve that, in such an exciting game.”

Djokovic had to go deep to deal with Hurkacz. He lost the first set to the Pole, but regrouped and won the second set without giving up a single game. The third and deciding set turned into a tiebreak, which Djokovic won with great pain and difficulty.

In 2011, Djokovic finished the year as the number one in the world rankings for the first time. He then did so in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2020. Sampras was the world number one from 1993 to 1998 at the end of the year.

The record for Djokovic follows in the year in which he also equaled the record number of Grand Slam titles. After his victory at Wimbledon, the Serb is on twenty major titles, as many as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. On Sunday, he will play the final of the Masters tournament in Paris against Daniil Medvedev, who in September in us open final Djokovic still held off a historic 21st Grand Slam title.

Maria Sharapova Building Fortunes Beyond Tennis

Maria Sharapova Building Fortunes Beyond Tennis | The True Angel Investor

Maria Sharapova Building Fortunes Beyond Tennis : Russian tennis beauty Maria Sharapova considers retirement to be a mysterious concept and it makes her feel more mature than her age.

Sharapova bid farewell to tennis on 26th February 2020 after playing in the pro circuit at the highest level for 19 years.

In a conversation with Forbes chief content officer Randall Lane during the Forbes Under 30 Conference in Detroit, Maria Sharapova said with a laugh: “It’s [retirement] a dreadful word. It makes me feel really old.”

After declaring her departure from pro tennis, Sharapova, 34, has turned an entrepreneur and venture capitalist.

The 5-time Grand Slam singles champion earned $325 million before taxes, as price money through her playing career.

In fact, according to Forbes, she was at one time named the highest-paid female athlete in the world for 11 straight years.

It is understood that with the various investments her net worth must have more than doubled by now.

In 2012, she introduced her candy brand Sugarpova.

She is also an angel investor in companies such as Tonal, Supergoop, Therabody and Rove Furniture.

“I was always regarded as a tennis player. I just didn’t want to be remembered by this one sport [tennis], and even though I knew that I was good at it, I felt like I had much more to offer,” remarked Sharapova, who hopes to encourage health and wellness startups in the near future.

Andy Murray’s Wedding Ring Stolen

Andy Murray’s Wedding Ring Stolen | Kim Sears Not Amused

Andy Murray’s Wedding Ring Stolen : Andy Murray has been protecting his wedding ring in an unexpected place during his tennis matches, as you have no doubt by now heard.

Andy Murray keeps his sacrosanct ring secure when playing matches, by tying it through his laces.

“That way I won’t lose it if it’s tied to my shoelace,” Murray told Italian Sky Sports awhile back. “As soon as the game is over I put it back on.”

He felt the chances of him losing or misplacing the ring were greater if he kept them in his bag.

But that was what he said then, because the present-day Andy seems to be a bit careless about his wedding ring, or that is what we can infer.

Andy Murray has taken to social media to come out with the shocking news that his wedding ring has been stolen after a mishap with his tennis shoes.

The 3-time major winner is busy warming up to get into the action at the Indian Wells Open, and then there is incident of his shoes getting stolen, with his ring still tied to the shoe lace.

Watch the video below in which he has ended up issuing an appeal for the return of his wedding ring.

The British star further went on to explain that he left his tennis shoes outside beneath his car to dry out overnight – but they were nowhere to be seen when he returned in the morning.

Calling for social media users to help him out, Andy Murray light-heartedly pleaded for the return of the ring – to help him smooth things over with his deeply upset wife.

Andy tried to justify his action by saying that his room doesn’t have a balcony so he had no place to dry his stinky and wet shoes. He decided to leave the shoes underneath the car, to get some air to them and dry them out through the night.

By all the reactions on social media, it is clear that losing the shoes is not the issue here. Kim Sears maybe tempted to ask him why he left the ring laced up on his shoe and why he didn’t put it back on after the game? On her part she is justified in being totally upset!
