She’s a globetrotting ace, a compatible travel companion and, of course, a big fan of peanut butter.
Ever since Bianca Andreescu exploded on to the pro tennis scene in 2019, it’s been clear she isn’t the only superstar in her family. Toy poodle Coco has become a fan darling, most often seen sneaking a quick look out of her bag in the player’s box to watch Andreescu put on a show.
Coco has been spotted at many of Bianca Andreescu’s major tournaments. Coco was seen when Andreescu was into her winning ways in Toronto and the US Open in 2019 and also during her run to the 2021 Miami final. The 4 year old poodle, the very smart girl is travelling alongwith the Andreescu family on a trip around Europe as Bianca seeks to take back her place at the top of the game.
Not too long back, Bianca walked wtatennis through the challenges and joys of a standard day in Coco’s life.
Andreescu’s poodle is an early riser
“She’ll always wake up around 5:30 a.m. for attention,” Andreescu said. “After 6 hours, she’s like, ‘I need cuddling.’ So she’ll just cuddle up between my mom and me and call for attention for maybe 10 minutes, then she’ll return to bed.
Andreescu’s poodle knows how to express herself
“She’s actually very intelligent. She has a certain way she asks for certain things. If she’s thirsty, she’ll find a water bottle and give it a tap with her nose. If she is hungry, she’ll roll onto her back and get you to rub her belly. And if she has decided to go for a walk, she’ll scrape the door or bark really loud.
“I try to walk her as much as possible. It’s a terrific way to discover cities, because she loves walking. She can walk for 3 hours, even though she’s really tiny. Usually I’ll let her take the lead during a typical walk, unless there’s a specific thing I want to see.
“Yesterday, I went to the beauty parlour to get my nails done. We were walking by the Castel Sant’Angelo and she got exhausted. At that point we’d been strolling for almost two hours. You know she’s fatigued when she starts attempting to trip you. Jumping on you, going in the middle of your legs. Just so we have no other option but to pick her up.
How does Andreescu’s poodle sneak into tournament venues?
“Tournaments don’t always permit pets. Sometimes … I don’t automatically sneak her in. But I’ll speak to some like-minded people, and they’ll be like, ‘OK … and let her in.’
“She’s an excellent training companion. When she’s on the tennis court, she’ll help out by running and getting the balls, but she won’t essentially bring them back to us. She’ll collect them all in her own little corner. But she meticulously gathers all of them, so it’s kind of her way in helping out.
What does Andreescu’s poodle do during match time in the player’s box?
“During my games she’s the best. She’s extremely quiet, she stays in her tiny bag. My mom will hold her up occasionally so I can see her, and this helps me smile if I’m stressed out. It really helps.
How does Andreescu’s poodle travel?
“She’s the coolest when it comes to various time zones. She’s just so pleased to be with us all the time, and she literally does whatever we do. If we’re in the car, she has no difficulty being in the car as well even if it is for a long road trip. But I think it also helps that she went through the entire travel drill when she was younger. We started touring with her when she was less than seven months, so she’s used to it.
“Some flights apparently don’t allow pets. My dad’s is ever so often on the phone for hours trying to find a flight that will consent to Coco, and understandably you have to get documents for her to travel; she has her personal passport, all her vaccinations. That’s the only complicated part of touring with her, though. It’s not tough, it’s just time-consuming.
“But inside the plane, my parents have to conceal her from other people walking by. Because she considers them a threat to us, and she’s very protective. She’ll just start snarling and posturing in an offensive mode. There have been some misadventures. But only in the aircraft! It could be the altitude that makes her like that.”

Simona is a great person. I remember when an “unknown” Iga Swiatek beat Simona 6-1 6-2 in RG 2020. At the press conference Simona was rather happy and satisfied with her performance and acknowledged Iga’s outstanding performance.
Maria Nagaoka
Iga Swiatek clearly dominance so far having won 5th title in a row as well as 28th match winning streak Wishing best of luck for World no.1 Iga
Christopher Harijanto
Delightful! Two great players having a friendly encounter.
Luisa Apostol
I like this pair. They will be a good final
Juan Manuel Portillo
Halep must really start to develop some other tools such as a kick second serve, effective slice backhand, confidence at the net. She also needs to get that consistent depth on her groundies again. If she fails to attempt any of this then her career is over anyway. Everyone else has just gotten too good.

Good Luck Iga!

The question is ladies and gentlemen: who will be in the final against Iga?
Jukka O. Parviainen
This is the weirdest draw I’ve seen in a while. All the top 20 players are in the very top half of the draw. They are going to be knocking each other off like flies….which means a no name may win the title this year. How? The no names are NOT playing top 10 players, they are playing each other, which means they can make it farther unhindered by higher caliber players.

Iga Swiatek’s incredible run in 2022 continued in Rome as she successfully defended her title by defeating Ons Jabeur 6-2 6-2.
Swiatek, an overwhelming favourite to win this year’s French Open, broke down into tears on the clay after sealing her 5th straight title and her 28th win on the trot!
It has never happened before that a world No.1 has has defended a title and only dropped 4 games en route to a convincing win in one hour and 23 minutes.
Ons Jabeur played well on her part, but Iga Swiatek was clearly on fire and the Tunisian will have to wait for another day to defeat the Pole. The way the Tunisian is growing in confidence, the day she topples the number one seed may not be far!
However Ons Jabeur displayed a very high level of sportsmanship and the same is displayed in the passionate way in which she congratulated her opponent.

Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur has won more matches on clay this year, more than any other player on the WTA Tour. The 27-year-old, who claimed her first WTA 1000 title in Madrid and reached the finals in Stuttgart and Charleston, has an association with the red clay that has roots way back into her junior championship days.
Ons Jabeur first real succes on clay was in 2011 when she won the Roland-Garros junior girls singles title. Ons Jabuer confessed that Roland-Garros was the only Grand Slam she really knew about and how much she enjoys playing on the surface after her latest big win.
Recently, at the Italian, Jabeur came from 6-1, 5-2 to defeat Maria Sakkari 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 to win her 10th match on the trot and reach the semi-finals in Rome. She won the hearts of the Italian fans and for all you know her odds as the favourite for the title have just got a big boost.
Ons Jabeur also revealed that her French psychologist, Melanie Maillard, have been working together since 2017, and that she considers her to be her lucky charm.
Tennis Legend Boris Becker could face 7 years jail for concealing assets from insolvency
The former Tennis pro champion was sentenced earlier this month of four charges under the bankruptcy Act.
Boris Becker is facing a jail sentence for suppressing hundreds of thousands of pounds of assets after he was proclaimed bankrupt.
The 3-time Wimbledon winner found himself stranded financially in June 2017 after his £38 million tennis earnings were eaten up by a costly divorce, child upkeep, and his extravagant lifestyle.
Faced with calls to hand over his assets, Becker hid his stake in real estate in Germany as well as shares in a tech firm, and moved £360,000 (€426,930) to others including his ex-wife Barbara and his separated wife Sharlely “Lilly” Becker.
Jurors at Southwark crown court acquitted Becker of a further twenty charges, including accusations that he had concealed his trophy collection from liquidation officials. But he still faces the possibility of a prison term as he faces the decision by Judge Deborah Taylor, the Recorder of Westminster.
Becker, who has lived in the United Kingdom since 2012, was pronounced bankrupt after his failure to pay on a £3 million bank loan for repairs to his extensive estate in Mallorca.
A High Court judge declined the request to grant extra time to allow Becker to try to pass on the debt, leaving the tennis ace under strict constraints on his monetary affairs.
He was also sentenced in 2002 in Germany of tax evasion and attempted tax evasion after an probe into his time spent residing in Monte Carlo and his native Germany.
Evidence was submitted of his expenditure at Harrods and Ralph Lauren while bankruptcy was imminent, while he also shelled out €48,000 for an ankle surgery at a private clinic, €12,500 to a private jet company, and a €6,000 luxury golf resort holiday in China.
In his defence Becker said he had relied on consultants to help him with legal papers, and insisted he had not read papers spelling out his obligations to the bankruptcy proceedings.
Becker faces his sentencing hearing soon and if the judge is not lenient then the charges he has been convicted carry a maximum seven year prison term.
