Indian tennis superstar Sania Mirza ended the Australian Open 2023 as a runner-up in mixed doubles alongside long standing partner Rohan Bopanna and wrapped up her Grand Slam career with an passionate speech.

She was nurturing some heartbreak as her fans were expecting her to win, but finishing her talented career as the runner up at a Grand Slam is a feat in itself!

Soon after she reunited with her family and spent quality time with them. Sania Mirza has now taken to Instagram to share some portraits of herself with her son. Alongside, she wrote a loving slogan.

“More of this,” wrote Sania Mirza while posting photos of herself with her son Izhan Mirza Malik. She finished the post’s title with a green heart emoticon. In the 1st photo, Sania and Izhan are sitting on a sofa. While the tennis player beams brightly, Izhan is seen pointing his tongue out at the camera. The following photo shows Sania lodging a kiss on her son’s cheek.

Sania Mirza who has just retired from Indian professional tennis was born on November 15, 1986 in Mumbai, India.

Sania Mirza younger days

Sania Mirza started playing tennis at a young age and showed early promise in the sport. She began competing in local tournaments in India when she was just six years old. By the age of nine, she had won several state-level tournaments and was considered a prodigy in Indian tennis.

In 2003, at the age of 16, Mirza became the first Indian woman to win a WTA Tour singles title. She made her Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open in 2005 and reached her career-high singles ranking of 27 in 2007.

Despite a series of injuries and a loss of form, Mirza continued to compete in doubles, and eventually found great success in the discipline. She won several doubles titles and became World No. 1 in the doubles rankings in 2015, partnering with Swiss player Martina Hingis.

Throughout her career, Mirza remained a trailblazer for Indian tennis and an inspiration to young girls across the country.
