Tennis Couple Monfils and Svitolina Separated Till Early February

Tennis couple (Ukranian) Elina Svitolina and (French) Gael Monfils will not be allowed to see each other during the 2-week quarantine prior to the Australian Open.

Svitolina, the world number five, and Monfils, eleven, have been in the tennis gossip news for a number of years now – and are undisputedly the highest profile couple both still activ in professional level tennis.

But strict COVID protocols in Melbourne means they will be unable to see each other for the entire period of thier 14-day isolation.

“We are allowed to be outside our hotel rooms for no more than 5 hours: 2 hours of tennis, 2 hours of getting fit and 1 hour for eating,” the Ukrainian said.

“We received a letter saying we may not see each other during this period in order not to increase the social circle.”

As per the present protocol, players will be allowed to practice with one other player during the 1st week of quarantine.

In the 2nd week, two pairs will be permitted to practice together – making groups of no more than four players.

But, for active couples like Monfils and Svitolina, who are part of different tours, there will be no scope to meet up until early February.

Presently Elina is playing at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Women’s Tennis Open.

The Abu Dhabi Women’s Tennis Open is a star tudded affair with the likes of Sofia Kenin, Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova, Aryna Sabalenka, Garbine Muguruza, Jelena Ostapenko, Coco Gauff, and many more competing just ahead of the first Grand Slam of the Year.

Both players are capable of climbing the heights at the 2021 Australian Open, and thier ever growing fan base is eagerly awaiting to see them in action.

In other news, Australian Open champion Roger Federer claims the real reason for his withdrawal, not injury related.
