While Sakkari & Tsitsipas make Greek fans proud in Paris rumours emerge about their romance : It is a moment of enormous joy for Greece as two of its top stars are in the semi-finals at Roland Garros 2021. While Stefanos Tsitsipas has been making life difficult for the top seeds in Paris, Maria Sakkari toppled this year’s defending champion, Iga Swiatek, & is seen now the favourite for the title.
Both Maria Sakkari & Stefanos Tsitsipas are good friends off the court & even post photographs of each other on social media – mainly Instagram. There were even rumours that the two Greek stars had dated each other some time in the past. However, it has been established that there is no truth in those rumours.

Also interesting to point out that the two defeated Roger Federer & Belinda Bencic in the mixed doubles at the Hopman Cup 2019. It was in fact after this that they came forward & stated that they were not dating.
Rumors swelled when Stefanos Tsitsipas kissed Sakkari on her cheek in 2019.
After their triumph over Federer & Bencic at the Hopman cup 2019, Tsitsipas gave Sakkari a peck on her cheek, which made fans even more curious about their romance. However, Sakkari clarified that it was just an innocent kiss & there was nothing suggestive about it. Back then, she also mentioned that one could never be sure about what would transpire in the future.
“The kiss he gave me was completely natural. It came after we won against [Roger] Federer & [Belinda] Bencic. The kiss meant nothing erotic. One never knows what the future will bring, but that’s how it is,”

Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas both look capable and poised to win the respective titles at Roland Garros. Maria Sakkari has earned her spot as the favourite at this point, however Stefanos Tsitsipas would have to toil past Nadal or Djokovic if he gets to the final.
