Osaka overcame a calamitous game in the 2nd set when she was shattered by Serena, who levelled the score at 4-4. Naomi then went on to win the next eight points in a row to win the set and the match 6-4.
The 2019 champion Osaka notched up her career H2H record against Serena to 3-1. Osaka, the current US Open champion, is bidding for a second Australian Open title to increase her tally of Majors to four.
